1.THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Today, let’s look at Exodus chapter 20.
Exodus chapter 20 is also where you find the original Ten Commandments.
If you compare it with the catholic Ten Commandments, it differs in the second and the last command.
I want us to look at it verse by verse.
Remember, this was written when the Children of Israel were at Mount Sinai where God spoke to His children audibly-they heard and felt His presence.
Sinai is a desert area with a rectangular mountain of over 7000 feet.
If you see this mountain, it just looks like a giant pulpit,
This was the same mountain our Lord Jesus would use to preach and hear God the Father speak from.
We are in this chapter studying the law, and I am about to tell you that if you miss it, you won’t understand, and it’s important to take notes.
When discussing the law, we should know the law is divided into two components.
There is the law of God and the Law of Moses.
Both the law of God and the Law of Moses are given at Mount Sinai, which looks like a pulpit.
Jesus discussed the Law of Moses when discussing circumcision and the Sabbath day.
In John 7:5, Jesus mentions Moses’ law; later, Paul, the Apostle, in Romans 7, also refers to the law of God.
WHO ARE THE AUDIENCE OF THE LAW OF GOD AND THE LAW OF MOSES?
The law of God is for all people at all times
The Law of Moses deals with civil and ceremonial laws and is the Jews.
The law of God is given in Exodus Chapter 20, the Ten Commandments in Exodus Chapters 21-25, and Leviticus.
In Isaiah and the end part of Ezekiel.
NOTE: In the millennial kingdom, the ceremonial and civil law will be re-enacted universally.
