Gift Of The Holy Spirit Day 2
Hello, yesterday, we saw that the disciples waited patiently for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We noticed they changed the world without a management plan; they established the Church without Church planting experts and just received the Holy Spirit. Let’s continue today. Let’s first look at verse 8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:8.
Jesus, in the above verse, added that they became witnesses; Jesus said not witnessing but witnesses. The power here is dynamos. The English word is dynamic or dynamite. Do you know that there is an excellent difference between witnessing and being a witness? Jesus doesn’t want the early Church to go and witness, but He wants them to be witnesses always. For example, if I am a teacher by profession and one day I chose to go and be a witness of Christ by sharing the Gospel, I would tell those I am preaching to that I am a teacher by profession, but I chose to witness for Christ. What Jesus wants is not to have a professional stroke as a witness. What Jesus wants is for you to be His witness. Even when you are awakened at midnight, you should say I am a witness of Christ, not a teacher stroke witness. See how a rich man sadly left Jesus when told to drop everything and follow Him. It’s all about witnessing what the Holy Spirit does dynamically.
There’s a book titled “Marketing the Church” many Church leaders are reading to get skills to grow their audience, but what does Zechariah say in Chapter 4:6? Let me read,
“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Zechariah 4:6.
This disciple had some might, but Jesus said to wait for the Holy Spirit and see.
It allows me to elaborate more on dynamos or power; I used to see a small Dynamo on bicycles with a photo of an elephant. When you ride, this Dynamo rotates and Generates light to a bulb, which allows you, the rider, to see at night. Why does the company that manufactures this Dynamo put a picture of the elephant? I believe it’s a sign that the Dynamo is as strong as an elephant. I used to ride where the slower you rode, you had dim light; the higher the speed, the brighter the light.
Jesus told His followers to reserve their small power and let my spirit take over.
I was listening to a Pastor who said in a fellowship, they were fasting, and one member said the Lord revealed to him that he saw light in the valley where they gathered. After the Sunday fasting, rain began to wash them as he preached, and some of the members started laughing.
Later, one member called this Pastor and said God wants us to be witnesses to him; remember the vision our member shared, and today, when you were preaching, rain began to pour on us. As they discussed, they saw a rainbow, and all were filled with Joy. As I am writing now, this American Pastor is the one who teaches me Andama; he’s sound in doctrine, and he has done so much for me. God used him in my life to the extent that some people ask me where I study the Bible and that I am a Pastor. Am not, not ordained, but by the Spirit in me, in you, we can do more without humanistic plans.
In Acts, this believer did more. Maybe the power of the Spirit ignites your business, family, marriage, or ministry.
No fleshly striving, no clever organizing, no reading of agenda, but patiently waiting in weakness, willingness.
Let’s continue tomorrow.
Thanks
