1.What should be Christian Priorities?
Mark 3: 21, 31-35
We are continuing the topic of “priority.”
If you followed the great men in the Bible like David when he was in God’s will, no enemies would have come around his tent. Still, after prioritizing something else, especially Bathsheba, he became weaker.
When Jesus told people He was before Abraham, it sounded like He was becoming mad, and the family had to come and take Him for rest.
Mary, who seems blessed, is still the very son Jesus cared less about her when it comes to priorities.
By the way, let me reveal a secret in the verse that says Mary is blessed. It says she is blessed “among women,” not “above women.”
Mary was among the servers when the 120 waited for the Holy Spirit in the upper room. She equally needed a savior, Jesus.
By the way, when Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, He didn’t say my mother has already, so she shouldn’t wait; who is Jesus that He was before Abraham? How old is He, and how old is Mary If Jesus is older than Abram? John 8:58-59 Jesus said to them, “I assure you: Before Abraham was, I am.”
At that, they picked up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus hid and went out to the temple complex.
When it comes to priorities, Mary is not on the list. Mary came thinking this was only the 12-year-old boy she used to pull around, but in divinity, He is the one who created Mary.
Think of this: Joseph had a house where Jesus slept when he was 12, but when his mother asked why Jesus had disappeared, they meant for Jesus to come home. But Jesus tells them not the house they built at home but his birth father’s house, the Church that is all those who believe and obey Him.
So Jesus told both Mary and Joseph, “I am after my father’s business, the very priority.” The house he meant today is you, me, and us! We are the temple, and He will come for us.
Even in Mark 3, His family again cared by coming around, and again, He was found building His Father’s Kingdom.
Mary felt she was older than Jesus, so when people rumored that your son was becoming mad and claiming to be older than Abraham 1000 years back, she and other family members again looked for Him. And as I am repeating, “again,” they found Him preaching.
I like this proverb that says, “Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise,” meaning a wise person among fools will be a fool because the majority are fools!
The Bible tells us that wisdom begins with knowing God. Those who know God do His will and are wise.
If you are normal, you will remember those who brought you up, especially if you are abroad and have family in Africa; people who see your parents begging in the streets of Juba will say, “See, his daughter is in the USA, but the mother is begging like this.”
Likewise, God brought you into the world and formed you in your mother’s womb Psalms, but you don’t thank Him; you are not saved; you are absent in the Church. Then, as the Bible says, you are a fool, not different from a Millionaire who stays abroad but whose parents are begging in Africa.
Proverbs 9:10: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
