Gift Of The Holy Spirit Day 5

Let’s continue the series of messages titled “Gift of the Holy Spirit.” In short, we said the Holy Spirit has three relationships: first, it’s with you during conviction as you are ministered to; second, after you decide to accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit indwells you; and third, He the Holy Spirit comes upon and equips you for Ministry.

In the previous message, I asked a question: If Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit, how do we nowadays get filled?

We no longer have to wait for the Holy Spirit as they did because, on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the Church or individual believers. The Holy Spirit is a gift, available even as you listen to me now. You have to believe in your willingness. Please, I am primarily talking about believers. What do I mean? I mean, how can a born-again Christian who has the Holy Spirit in him have it come upon him and empower him for service? The way the Holy Spirit can come upon you, the believer, is the same way you received Him, the Holy Spirit in you. For God so loved the world He gave His begotten son; the same applies to the coming upon of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:13 reads, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11:13
Ask, and you will get it.

Also, John 1:12 reads, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12.

Some of you shed tears when receiving this gift of the Holy Spirit, new life, and change of citizenship from earth to heaven. First, many receive the spirit and feel and continue with their routine work, but in this third relationship with the spirit where it comes upon, you find people start speaking in tongues and burning more. Jesus told Nicodemus that the spirit is like the wind; you hear it and can’t even see it, but what it does is evident. Sharing the word won’t be embarrassing like those who receive Jesus, and that’s it.

By grace you receive, you don’t need to bother the men of God over; you can but not bother.

Classic Pentecostalism may believe it’s a unique gift you struggle to get after a lengthy spiritual mathematical procession or that you must have a high degree of holiness.

Listen, in Acts 8, Peter and John lay hands on the believers, and they were immediately empowered. Simon, a magician in that city, paid money to have the Holy Spirit because they were laying mere hands and fire burning.

Peter told the magician, let your money perish with you.

Today, even many magicians are followed to cities by Nigerians, leaving our local Pastors and going to Juju.

The spirit of God is a gift you receive freely, not by filling out forms. Are you a processing loan?

Thanks
